Arts, Culture + Play
JCC Harlem is a place where kids and adults can let loose and explore. Our theory is that people of all ages thrive when they have a voice. We believe in creating together through open-ended facilitation, communication, and trust. Join us for visual art exhibitions, performances, immersive cultural experiences, and good old-fashioned playtime.

We host musical and theatrical performances regularly! Past performances have included:

  • Vy Higginsen’s Sing Harlem Choir! A Passover/Easter Gospel Spectacular
  • MusicTalks Presents: Klezmer Bash with Ladino, Yiddish, and Yemenite Tunes
  • Bridges: A Salon Workshop Performance

Discussions + Panels

JCC Harlem regularly brings in New York City movers and shakers to share their expertise. Guests have included:

  • WNYC’s Jami Floyd, host of WNYC’s All Things Considered
  • Leah Penniman, author of Farming While Black
  • Creators from Art in FLUX, a Harlem-based artist coalition

Jump into the discussion yourself with our ongoing classes, which include:

  • Social + Racial Discussion Group with Ruth Messinger
  • Art instruction and creation with our artist-in-residence, Jordan Baker-Caldwell
