Your child is at the Center. The sound of children laughing, playing, and learning is the heartbeat of JCC Harlem. We specialize in fun programming for kids from birth to 10 to get them moving, grooving, and growing.

Harlem Sprouts (drop-off, in person)

Consider our early childhood separation program your child's first opportunity to independently participate in creating community. Our model is an intentionally mixed-age one, focusing on play-based learning which encourages exploration, curiosity, and self-discovery. Our experienced teachers will guide your family through a healthy, gentle separation process by establishing a safe and nurturing classroom experience. Curated work stations, facilitated transitions, community meetings, small group work and engaging provocations are some of the ways we develop our classroom community identity.

We are working closely with our colleagues at JCC Manhattan under the guidance of the NYC Depart of Health to ensure the highest standards of safety protocols for your children and for our staff. If you are interested in inquiring about or joining our Harlem Sprouts program, please be in touch at

Outdoor classes will take place in the lot just adjacent to JCC Harlem.
The following COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced:

  • We will have designated "pods" within which you and your household/guests are required to stay for the duration of class (but feel free to move inside of your pod).
  • Masks, fully covering your nose and mouth, will be required for all participants 2 years and older.
  • At this time, participants will not be allowed inside JCC Harlem for any reason, including to use the restroom.
  • Classes will not be rescheduled due to inclement weather, nor moved indoors. If more than two classes in the series are cancelled by JCC Harlem for any reason, we will offer you a refund or JCC credit for those classes (beyond the first two cancellations). Should a class be cancelled, you will be notified by email by 9 am the day of the class.
  • The JCC has recently implemented a new "Pay What You Wish" system, allowing for greater financial accessibility. Our new pricing options also account for the possibility of cancellations due to inclement weather and the greater unpredictability of running outdoor programming. Should you have any questions about payment options, or like to request additional financial assistance, please be in touch with Reuben at
